4 Years and Counting!

I am sitting here working through a list of jobs to do for mostly repeat clients and it struck me that today is my 4 year anniversary of nervously putting a post on Facebook asking my friends to share my new Facebook page and my website as I went "out on my own"

Now probably everybody knows that it was Covid and losing my job that kicked me into this position but it was always something I wanted to try. I registered this domain name in 2016 so that is how far back the thought process went!

4 years on what have I learnt? Well apart from your employer will replace you by the end of the week no matter how crucial you think you were, it is that there is a whole world of entrepreneurs out there doing what they love day in day out.

I have struck up relationships with many of my clients and they all have the same worries I have, but they also have the same buzz from doing what they love and moulding their life to best suit them and their families, rather than the dreaded 9-5 slog.

Is it scary? Hell yes. The world is designed for the 9-5. Everything is due on the first of the month but when you work for yourself that doesn't always work does it? But would I change it, Christ no. I love it.

I spend more time with my young family than I ever could have working 9-5 and that to me is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing. I do not see my days going in as I am producing My Work for My Clients who have trusted me with their project and their money!

Like all designers and creatives I look back at what I was doing 4 years ago and cringe but everything has a starting point and I am extremely proud of where NI Designer has got to and what I have achieved.

So here's to loads more years doing this crazy job and loving every minute!
