Insight Clinic, located in Ballygowan, County Down, Northern Ireland, is a multidisciplinary practice specializing in neuro-affirming autism diagnostic assessments for individuals aged 2.5 years and older. Established by directors Leigh McGowan and Dr. Jude Hutchinson, the clinic offers a comprehensive range of services designed to support neurodivergent individuals and their families. 

Autism Diagnostic Assessments

The clinic conducts thorough autism assessments adhering to the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines. A multidisciplinary team comprising professionals from psychology and allied health backgrounds collaborates to provide detailed evaluations. For clients under 18, a medical examination by a paediatrician is often required, which is facilitated through collaboration with Dr. Henderson of Sonny Healthcare.

• Educational Psychology: Assessments to identify specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia and dyscalculia, as well as generalized learning challenges. The clinic also provides evaluations for examination access arrangements.

• Speech and Language Therapy: Tailored assessments and interventions focusing on individual needs. Therapists experienced with both analytical and gestalt language processors deliver flexible, child-led sessions.

• Sensory Integration and Occupational Therapy: Comprehensive sensory integration assessments, interventions, and guidance to support sensory needs across various environments. Occupational therapy evaluations help identify barriers to daily activities and promote skill development.

• Leigh McGowan: A Speech and Language Therapist and Sensory Integration Practitioner with over 14 years of experience in the NHS, education sector, and private practice. Leigh has dedicated over eight years to autism assessment and is a co-director of Insight Clinic. 

• Dr. Jude Hutchinson: A Chartered Practitioner Psychologist specializing in Developmental and Educational Psychology. With more than 14 years of experience in the Education Authority and private practice, Dr. Hutchinson has spent over seven years focusing on autism assessments and co-directs the clinic.
