So when I set up NI Designer over 3 years ago now, I had imposter syndrome... like crippling anxiety as to why on earth people would pay me to build their website or design their branding or whatever it may be.

But they did! And the business has steadily grown over that time and I am so grateful to those who have trusted me to build their websites as it is a big commitment and investment. 

And with that investment in mind I am now advising all my clients to maintain their websites. Now, what doesn't that mean? Well it is a lot of things and these can be done by yourself, if you are confident enough to complete these monthly tasks or you can get me to do it. Suffice to say that hackers, scammers and all that good stuff is on the rise. I myself am constantly warding off threats to my own website and social media accounts by faceless bots and hackers who want to destroy what you have worked hard to build up.

So what all should you be doing, well I have a page dedicated to what I can do for you and this is the bulk of what you should be doing with your website every month.

Full Website Backup

You can do this every week/month/year whichever you need but a full backup of your website that we can use to restore your website if it does get hacked or is affected by a virus/threat of any kind.

Theme Updates/Plugin Updates

Seems simple but the theme and the plugins are the nuts and bolts that make your website work, they get updated all the time, some with new features some with security enhancements and if you are not keeping these up to date, then your website is vulnerable.

Clear Out Spam Comments

Although most websites do not have commenting on on your blog posts and pages, commenting (mostly spam) is being logged in the background every day and needs regularly cleared out as over time can affect your website performance.

But my website has been fine...

And in the vast majority of cases it will be, but I simply cannot guarantee that, also if you are keen to get on the first page of Google, this is a must. A well maintained up to date website is a minimum requirement for Google searches and rankings, its as simple as that.
